...A BUMPER IS NOT A FENDER! Get with the program! How dare they improperly teach future petrolheads such egregiously wrong information!
Noticed this at recess while teaching at the school today. Was skimming through ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Long Haul’ and came to this page. Much rage and petrolhead mumbling ensued.

I grew up reading these. Perhaps the other fender is banged up in addition to the bumper?

Obviously, the bumper is damaged- clearly the author thought this much and decided to not state the obvious but to state the less obvious: that the bumper damage was so severe it damaged the fender underneath.
